Where your shipment departs

3 US departure ports — sailings to the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic route operates from three US ports. Miami and Jacksonville are the closest to Santo Domingo — shortest transit. Newark serves the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Miami, FL

South Florida — closest port to Santo Domingo

Jacksonville, FL

Northeast Florida — Southeast US departures

Newark, NJ

Northeast US — Mid-Atlantic departures

Where your motorcycle arrives

One arrival port — Port of Santo Domingo

All Dominican Republic shipments arrive at the Port of Santo Domingo — the country’s primary international port and the gateway to the capital and surrounding regions.

Port of Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Dominican Republic

The main commercial port of the Dominican Republic, centrally located in the capital city. Convenient access to Santo Domingo and the wider island. Recipient or representative collects the motorcycle here after customs clearance and pays any applicable duties and taxes on-site.

RoRo shipping vessel — AA Motorcycle Shipping service to Dominican Republic

How long does it take

Transit time — USA to Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is one of the closest international destinations we serve. Miami and Jacksonville offer the shortest ocean crossing to Santo Domingo.

We collect your motorcycle at your US address and truck it to the nearest departure port — Miami, Jacksonville, or Newark. From there it’s loaded onto the next available sailing to Santo Domingo. Miami and Jacksonville offer the quickest routing given their proximity to the Caribbean. Newark adds transit time for the longer coastal run.

On arrival at the Port of Santo Domingo, a customs broker coordinates clearance. The recipient presents valid ID and all required documents, pays applicable duties and taxes on-site, and collects the motorcycle.

Shipping methods

RoRo vs container — options for the Dominican Republic

Three shipping methods are available on this route. Choose based on your budget and the level of protection your motorcycle needs.

RoRo

Standard — most popular

Your motorcycle is ridden aboard the vessel and secured on the car deck. Cost-effective, set schedules, and your bike stays enclosed within the ship’s hull throughout the crossing.

Container Shipping

Premium — maximum protection

Your motorcycle ships in a dedicated sealed container. Best for high-value, vintage, or custom bikes where extra protection justifies the added cost.

Shared Container

Economy — good balance of cost and security

Multiple motorcycles share one container, each securely positioned and separated. A practical middle ground between RoRo cost and container protection.

The US domestic leg

From your US address to the departure port

Every Dominican Republic shipment begins with an enclosed truck run from your US pickup to Miami, Jacksonville, or Newark. We handle both the domestic and ocean legs as one coordinated service.

Non-palletized motorcycle shipping — domestic leg to US port for Dominican Republic

Non-Palletized

Standard domestic leg

Motorcycle secured to floor-mounted tie-downs inside an enclosed trailer. The standard, most affordable domestic option for all bike types heading to Santo Domingo.

Palletized motorcycle shipping — premium domestic leg to US port for Dominican Republic

Palletized

Premium domestic leg

Motorcycle forklift-loaded onto a pallet in an enclosed air-ride trailer. The premium upgrade for valuable or delicate bikes before the Caribbean crossing.

What you need before you book

Documents required to ship a motorcycle to the Dominican Republic

Have your documents ready before booking to avoid delays at departure or on arrival at Santo Domingo.

  • Bill of sale
  • Title and registration (proof of ownership)
  • Valid government-issued ID (passport or driver’s license)
  • Customs forms — completed for clearance on arrival
  • Import permit — check current Dominican Republic import regulations
  • Customs broker — assigned by AA Motorcycle Shipping at booking (details on your Document Receipt)

Questions about documentation? Call 1-888-347-1391 before booking.

Dominican Republic customs

What to expect at the Port of Santo Domingo

On arrival, customs agents verify documentation and inspect the motorcycle if required. The recipient presents valid ID and all required paperwork, and pays applicable Dominican Republic import duties and taxes on-site. A customs broker assigned by AA Motorcycle Shipping at booking coordinates the clearance process. We do not publish estimated duty figures — rates depend on the declared value of the motorcycle at time of import.

The process

Shipping a motorcycle from the USA to the Dominican Republic — four steps

01

Request a quote

Submit your quote request with your bike details, US pickup zip, and Dominican Republic as the destination. Or call 1-888-347-1391.

An enclosed truck collects your motorcycle and delivers it to Miami, Jacksonville, or Newark — whichever departure port suits your location and timeline.

03

Vessel departs for Santo Domingo

Your motorcycle is loaded via RoRo, container, or shared container and sails to the Port of Santo Domingo. Miami and Jacksonville offer the quickest crossings to the Dominican Republic.

04

Collection at Santo Domingo

Your customs broker coordinates clearance. Present your ID and documents, pay duties on-site, and collect your motorcycle — ready to ride the island.

Why riders choose AA

Shipping motorcycles from the USA to the Dominican Republic since 1983

The Dominican Republic’s coastal roads, mountain interior, and year-round riding climate make it one of the Caribbean’s most compelling destinations on two wheels. Shipping your own bike rather than sourcing one locally means arriving with a machine you know and trust — without navigating a limited island market.

Three US departure ports — Miami, Jacksonville, and Newark — give riders across the country convenient access to the route. Miami’s proximity to Santo Domingo makes it the fastest option for Florida and Southeast riders. AA Motorcycle Shipping coordinates the full journey from US pickup to port collection, including the customs broker assignment at Santo Domingo.

Before pickup day

Preparing your motorcycle for shipment

A few simple steps before pickup keep your shipment on schedule and your motorcycle protected throughout the journey.

  • Clean the motorcycle thoroughly — dirt and debris can hide existing damage
  • Photograph from multiple angles to document pre-shipment condition
  • Check for fluid leaks — fix before pickup
  • Reduce fuel to a quarter tank or below
  • Disconnect the battery
  • Remove loose accessories — saddlebags, mirrors, GPS mounts
  • Verify tire pressure is correct
  • Have all required documents ready

Due to some communication failures, we were initially sent to the wrong address in Sacramento to drop off my '14 Ultra Limited. After several frantic calls to AA Shipping in San Diego, we finally reached the Valley Relocation and Storage dispatcher who went out of her way to find us in that industrial complex. Danielle was fantastic!! Once she took control of the situation, I was able to ride the bike onto the custom pallet, warehouse gentlemen (super nice and real experts) carefully and expertly strapped the bike down, and my wife and I began our own drive across the country. We arrived in Massachusetts in 6 days; we got a phone call the following day--the bike arrived at the Sterling terminal in Lowell, MA on the 7th day! There, the guys were incredibly helpful getting the bike's battery jumped started. I can honestly say that you could do a lot worse with other motorcycle shippers, but you couldn't do better than AA Shipping. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

AMAZING service!. Julia started off by helping me navigate the on line process, then responded quickly to any questions I had throughout the transport. When a possible additional charge was suggested, Julia was able to mitigate it. My vehicle arrived in perfect condition, and the driver was very careful to unload it with great care. I could not be more pleased with the overall experience. Thank you, AA.
Response from the owner:Thanks very much for the business Todd

I was extremely hesitant to ship my motorcycle from San Diego to Oregon. The thought of pre-paying $1,000 for strangers to come and load my bike up in their box truck and drive away, hoping to see them again a few days later, made me sick to my stomach. I'm so happy I was absolutely wrong to have any negative thoughts about AA Motorcycle Shipping. They were extremely professional, communicative, and took great care of my bike. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to ship a motorcycle anywhere in the country!
Response from the owner:Thanks for the trust and the business Riley.

got my motorcycle from Maryland to Utah in a pretty timely manner. I also needed some same day shipping and they were able to accommodate me by allowing me to bring the motorcycle to their shipping facility to get it on a crate. The customer service agent I called was also super helpful (she works in accounting, can't remember her name). Will absolutely use again if the need arises.
Response from the owner:Thanks for the business Caelan and her name is Julia.

AA Motorcycle did a great job moving my bike from Dallas to Las Vegas. The bike was delivered efficiently without any damage which sounds simple but if you've shipped a bike before you know is not always the case. They showed a lot of flexibility by delivering it to a location which wasn't originally requested when I made the reservations. I would use AA again if I needed to move my bike again in the future.
Response from the owner:Thanks for the business
